Manmeet

Manmeet visited us to show us her suit from India.  The special scarf can be worn when you go to the Golden Temple because you put it over your head to cover your hair and show respect to god.  Men wear a special scarf to wrap around their head. Red suits are for weddings.  Beads are for decoration.

Today we made some waffles and they were really yummy!
We had hokey pokey ice-cream with strawberries, grapes and kiwi fruit.
Mrs Pask, Mrs Laurie, Manmeet, Noe and Shirleen helped me.

Team Kea Visitors

Team Kea had visitors this morning.  They were the children who are starting school next year.  Some of our children went to Room 3 and 6 to work.  Some children stayed to be buddies for the new children.  We did some maths, writing and reading.  We had fun!

Damian, Ella and Laura Visit

Today Damian McKenzie, Ella Hall, Laura McVicar and Mrs McKenzie came and visited Team Kea.
Team Kiwi joined us.  Laura, Ella and Damian went to Edendale Primary School.  Damian is now a Junior All Black, Laura is training to be a teacher and Ella is at Victoria University.  Damian's goal is to be an All Black.  They all said the work you do at school is cool.  It was fun meeting Laura, Ella and Damian.

When Damian, Ella and Laura were 8 they made the railway crossing and footpath area safer for children to cross.  They got all the signs made and painted footprints on the path so everyone knows to follow the footprints across the crossing.  This is them in the photo when they were 8.

Keeping Safe

We stop at the yellow line to check there are no trains coming.

We also need to listen for trains or bells and look for the red lights going.

Amber, P.B. and Belinda stopped to check it was safe to cross the railway tracks.

We can see a train coming towards us so we need to stop behind the yellow lines.

The lights go red and ring when the train comes.  We must stop.

A train is very big an heavy.  Sometimes the trains shunt , they go back to get their load.

We cannot cross until the train is gone, the red lights are off and the bells are not going.  We then check it is safe and cross.

We also must make sure the road is safe to cross and no cars are coming.
